How we clean the different types of upholstery on chairs, sofas, sofabeds
The type of fabric that covers your sofa is the most important consideration when choosing a cleaning method.
We share our professional ways on how to get the maximum effect from cleaning different types of upholstery.
Sofa upholstery is a quite comfortable material to upholster furniture (sofas, chairs, sofas ets. ), but sometimes difficult to clean.
Upholstered furniture such as chairs, sofas, sofas or even chaise longues in the gardeners are used by us every day. Experts say that in order to take care of your health and the cleanliness of the space you live in, it is advisable to thoroughly wash your upholstered furniture, at least once every six months.
Separate types of upholstery need separate ways of care
There are different types of upholstery for which appropriate cleaning methods and detergents are used. We will describe each type in turn.
Velvet and corduroy upholstery should usually be cleaned with a cloth dampened with denatured alcohol or water with ammonia. Clean in the direction of the bristles.
Suede or nubuck upholstery is more delicate on sofas and subject to soiling. Over time, they will wear down in the areas that are most frequently touched. Such fabrics only need to be cleaned with soft brushes and detergents specially designed for these types of fabric.
With the help of our specially picked cleaning products, we guarantee to clean stains and refresh the original colour of the furniture. After the treatment, we protect the surface with a water-repellent impregnator, which closes the external structure of the suede or nubuck and, as a result, times the resistance of such upholstery to water and dirt.
Jacquard upholstery. Jacquard is a thick and durable fabric whose main advantage is that it is easily breathable. For upholstery made of natural jacquard we often use a hoover with a mild detergent. Jacquard upholstery made of synthetic material is water-resistant. For their cleaning, we use the extraction method, which removes dirt of various origins with high efficiency.
Upholstery made of eco-leather is insensitive to dust and does not give off unpleasant smells, but all the same it gets dirty. The easiest way to clean such upholstery is with a damp rag soaked in water with grey soap and then wiped dry. We also have other professional mild cleaners for eco-leather.
We also use a variety of natural cleaners to clean natural leather upholstery. As with eco-leather, after cleaning natural leather upholstery, it should then be wiped dry.

Częste pytania
Is it possible to remove all stains from upholstery after professional cleaning?
The result after cleaning and removing stains from upholstery depends on the type of fabric, its quality, as well as what the stains are from and how old they are. The most difficult stains to clean are old stains from juices, grease, coffee or red wine. They often err after cleaning, but do not remove entirely.
Note: Difficult stains from juices, wine and setter can be completely removed if you clean the furniture regularly once every six months.
Why do you need to clean your furniture at least once every six months?
The most effective way to maintain upholstery is to clean it regularly. This is especially true for furniture that is frequently touched. When furniture is cleaned irregularly or not cleaned at all over years of use, it happens that too old stains that were not visible “come out” after the product has dried. There are stains that err after cleaning, but do not remove one hundred per cent.
What influences the creation of a price for upholstery cleaning?
the size of the furniture
degree of contamination
the duration of the service
the quality of the detergents
How clean covers?
Covers cleaning
There are three types of sofa’s covers depending on the rooms in which they are used: wool, shaggy and covers.
Wool covers:
Location: mostly in private homes, suitable for living room or bedroom.
Features: anti-allergenic, warm, soft and comfortable.
Extended cleaning method: extraction or shampooing.
Shaggy coverings:
Location: in private homes: usually in bedrooms or children’s rooms
Features: they have long hair, are fluffy and retain heat very well, especially in cold winter weather.
Cleaning method: in order to keep shaggy covers looking good for a long time, they need to be vacuumed regularly and cleaning and care treatments should be carried out.
Floor coverings:
Location: best decision for office spaces and for staircase upholstery in various rooms (including private homes)
Features: have short pile, good sound insulation when walking.
Method for cleaning: daily vacuuming and cleaning with a vacuum cleaner.
Covers cleaning instructions
- vacuuming
To begin with, the coversshould be vacuumed thoroughly. This is a fundamental step which should not be omitted (especially if the cower has a long pile), as vacuuming determines the success of the cleaning and the necessary result.
If the covers has a long pile, use a special column hoover with a built-in electric brush to thoroughly comb through the sofa’s covers and pull out loose and water-insoluble particles.
- spraying
After vacuuming, the sofa’s covers is sprayed with a small amount of dirt dissolving liquid.
- scrubbing
After the dirt has dissolved using a scrubber (we usually use a roller scrubber), we start scrubbing the sofa’s covers.
Extraction cleaning
Using a hoover, we carry out extraction cleaning. During extraction, all soiling that has already dissolved is rinsed out and extracted.
Additional stain removal
If all stains have not disappeared after extraction cleaning, the remaining stains can be cleaned with a dedicated stain remover. Stain removal areas should also be rinsed with a hoover.
Combing the pile
After all cleaning work has been done, the fleece should be combed in one direction so that the hair is evenly distributed and the hoover marks disappear.
Drying
You can leave the sofa’s covers to dry for a few hours in an open window or use a fan to speed up drying.
How long does it take to wash sofa’s covers?
cleaning time depends on the following factors:
the metric area of the sofa’s covers
degree of soiling
cleaning technology
It usually takes around an hour to clean one room.
How effective is it to clean furniture including a sofa by yourself?
Cleaning the upholstery fabric yourself can be effective, but not in a large number of cases. Home-made methods cannot compare with the methods used by specialists. Often, home equipment and manual effort cannot achieve good results and can easily spoil the fabric.
Why do we advise against cleaning furniture yourself?
You may choose the wrong detergent, which will not give a result or contribute to discolouration of the colour.
Home-made cleaning products do not remove all dirt and mites, and if you do not control the amount of water, the furniture may give off an unpleasant smell afterwards.
Tip: If you have decided to try cleaning your sofa or covers yourself, we recommend that you try it on a small invisible area first.
NB: If the upholstery on your sofa is made of water-repellent fabrics, this usually does not require professional cleaning. Simply wipe the surface with a normal damp cloth. If the dirt is large, you can add a little soap to the water.
What is the extraction method?
Extraction cleaning may or may not be the most versatile method for different soiling. Extraction can be used when cleaning sofas, chairs, sofas, poufs, armchairs, including chairs and car seats. It is also suitable for mattresses, covers and rugs.
The extraction is great for removing wine and coffee stains, neutralising odour and urine stains.
The chosen cleaning agent is sprayed over the fabric to be cleaned with water to dissolve the dirt. The next step is to extract the water. The fabric is left slightly damp, and dries easily in a few hours in open air. The water does not get inside the furniture and therefore does not cause unpleasant odour.
